Violence and sexual offences (12,511), shoplifting (3,344) and criminal damage and arson (2,887) made up 61% of all recorded crime. Its crime rate ranks 87th of the 302 districts covered by this site (1 = highest), in the upper half.

The largest rises on the year were in rape (+15%) and trafficking of drugs (+14%). The largest falls were in arson (−33%) and robbery of personal property (−20%).
