Crime in Hammersmith and Fulham district: statistics, rates and trends

Violence and sexual offences (6,446), anti-social behaviour (5,976) and shoplifting (2,865) made up 58% of all recorded crime. Its crime rate ranks 22nd of the 302 districts covered by this site (1 = highest), in the highest tenth.

Recorded crime in Hammersmith and Fulham district peaked in the year to August 2020 (27,479 crimes) and was lowest in the year to August 2022 (25,647). Between the years to August 2018 and 2026 it fell 3%, in line with England and Wales.

Compared with England and Wales, Hammersmith and Fulham district recorded notably more bicycle theft (3.5 times the national rate), theft from the person (2.7 times the national rate) and anti-social behaviour (2.1 times the national rate), and notably less criminal damage and arson (41% below) and other crime (36% below). On the year before, shoplifting rose from 2,228 to 2,865 and possession of weapons rose from 122 to 156, while criminal damage and arson fell from 1,226 to 747 and theft from the person fell from 1,231 to 858.

Relative to England and Wales, rates were highest for bicycle theft (3.3 times the national rate), robbery of business property (2.7 times the national rate) and theft from the person (2.5 times the national rate). Rates were lowest relative to the national rate for arson (0.61 times), miscellaneous crimes against society (0.69 times) and stalking and harassment (0.71 times).
